De-identification has been a bigger myth than Santa Claus for years. At least Santa can be used to inspire some good behavior; de-identification allows some good research in the short term, but I fear it is heading for an explosion.
May sound scary, but reidentification was their goal. Minimum risk thresholds shouldn't be set with malicious health 'researchers' in mind... I've worked with PHI for approx 15 yrs. I've NEVER identified someone I know or tried to reidentify anyone. htt
